Hello, friends! I wanted to do a quick little post today. One year ago today, I got married! This year has certainly been quite a hectic one, but I feel so blessed to have spent it married to my sweet husband.

It would be ridiculous for me to pretend to be an expert in marriage, as I’ve only been married a year, but I will give one little bit of advice that I’ve learned in said year…
Learn your partner’s love language!
This bit of advice works for any relationship, be it romantic, familial, or a friendship.
We all have a love language, whether we know it or not. Acts of service, touch, quality time, gifts, and words of affirmation. One could perform act of service after act of service, and if it wasn’t their partner’s love language, their loved one could go about living feeling quite neglected. Learning someone’s love languages and going out of your way to accommodate it is the quickest way to show people we care for them.
My love language is words of affirmation and Bobby’s is acts of service. It takes some time to adjust the way we show love, and while I don’t think we have to disregard our own love language, I do think that the love language of our partner is something we should consider. (I’m thinking of starting a series highlighting each love language…)
The day is not over yet, but Bobby and I have spent it enjoying one another’s company and eating tasty foods. We tried a new donut shop, and it added some extra sweetness to our day. It’s the little things, my friends! ❤

Thank you so much for reading!
XOXO, Mattie Mae
