Hello, friends! I write this post while being cuddled up on my couch, listening to the raindrops fall from the sky. I’ve always been quite fond of rainy days, but I will say that rainy days, however rare they may be in the winter, get me a little bit down because odds are, it’s going to be dark just about the whole day!
I’m also sitting here on my couch wondering when I should take my Christmas decor down. I had wanted to take it all down today, but I’m not sure I will yet. Christmas trees are such a friendly addition to the room and ours is fake, so we could leave it up all year if we really wanted to. We shall see, my friends. We shall see.
One of my goals for the new year is to read more. I’ll probably end up doing a post completely dedicated to my intentions for 2020, like I did last year, so I won’t give away all of them. Not just yet. Anyhow. I desperately want to read more than I did in 2019. 2019 was the year that I fell back in love with reading, but I didn’t read as much as I’d like to.
When I was younger, I had a habit of reading 3-5 books at a time and I guess I haven’t changed too much, because I’m currently reading two at a time. I’m reading The Fellowship of the Ring by J. R. R. Tolkien and a book I picked up in Leland titled A Year in Provence by Peter Mayle. I’ve done one book review on this blog, would y’all be interested in more of them? I think they’re pretty fun to do and I love the idea of being able to share book recommendations with all of you.
I mention my current reading because what could be better on a rainy day than curling up on the couch, reading a book? It’s much better than spending the day refreshing Instagram, which is what I usually end up doing. Sigh.

Later: Hello again, friends! It is much, much later in the day as I write this. And NO, I did not take my Christmas tree down. Another day, perhaps.
Bobby and I ended up hanging out with some dear friends of ours and took a trip to the thrift store. I bought some really wonderful pieces and I thought that I would share them with you. ❤

I also purchased a vintage Calvin Klein shirt that I plan on embroidering. I embroidered so much when I was a little girl and I want to try my hand at it again.
And that’s today’s post, my lovely friends! I’m off to bed!
XOXO,
Mattie Mae
