Decorating for Fall!

Hello, friends! I hope that your Monday is treating you well! I was quite productive today! I cleaned the kitchen, the fridge, and cleaned up my room! Not only all of that, but I was able to decorate for fall!

I haven’t done much around the house for fall, but I was able to really add some fall flair to my room! Decorating the home really makes one feel as though the space that they inhabit is THEIRS.

This is my first fall in my new apartment, and I am just so excited! I love the changing of seasons, because I’m able to reflect about where I was during the year prior.

This post isn’t very long, but I wanted to share my day with all of you. ❤ Gosh, do I love decorating! ❤

Thank you so much for reading!

XOXO,

August Favorites.

Hello, my friends! Happy Friday to you all! I hope that your weekend is off to a wonderful start and that you have some exciting plans for these next few days, or perhaps a restful couple if that is what you need! For today’s blog I wanted to share a quick list of my August favorites.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes.

These mashed potatoes are SO delicious and make for a perfect side dish. I’ve made them twice now and have thoroughly enjoyed them both times. So has Bobby! I also love love love how cheap potatoes are and how far they go. We buy four small/medium potatoes and they last for quite a few meals! So good! Definitely worth a try!

Triple Treat Cookies.

I found this recipe in one of my family’s cook books. I had to modify a couple of items, as they weren’t available at my grocery store, but oh my goodness these were good. The recipe makes quite a few cookies, which came in handy, because we were able to serve them for dessert when we had our friends over for supper! They were quite a hit!

Pumpkin Spice Caramel Drink.

Oh my gosh, this has been my go-to drink for a couple of weeks now. Whilst at TJ Maxx, I stumbled upon a trio of pumpkin syrups for coffee. Now… here’s the thing. I went on Amazon to see if I could find them to link here, and boy did I… and I’ll tell you what, I hadn’t realized this this coffee was giving people problems… eh, bathroom problems, that is. I won’t go into detail, and I will note that I have not experienced these things, but I just wanted to give a warning so I’m not steering you wrong. I bought these not because they were “skinny syrups”, but because the flavors interested me. I think if I finish all three and am still in the mood for some pumpkin spice beverages, I’ll probably try out another brand, BUT, I will say that this drink is delicious. Although, I don’t know how much I’ve sold it at this point… Any who! I make one cup of coffee with my Keurig, which for me, is the ten ounce option. Then, I add a cup of sweetened vanilla almond milk. I suppose there are many other things you could add in place of that, but I just really enjoy it! I also add about a teaspoon of the pumpkin spice caramel syrup. Then, I add some ice cubes to the cup, and to top it all off… I take a teaspoon or so of pumpkin pie spice and swirl it all around! And oh my goodness, is it delicious.

Lemon/Blueberry Bread.

This was a recipe that I found on Pinterest. And boy, was it delicious! And so beautiful, too! I will definitely be making this again. I think this is probably the best food picture that I’ve ever taken… And has given me such a hankering for all the lemon desserts! SO good!

Table cloth.

My aunt visited me in Traverse City the other week, and we had such a wonderful girl’s day! We went to Wilson’s, which is the biggest antique store that I have EVER been to. I could spend all day in there. It has FOUR floors, and some of the most beautiful items that I have ever seen. They also have racks and racks of clothing that are all so precious. There were so many pink flouncy dresses that I wanted. I did not end up buying them, HOWEVER, my aunt bought me the prettiest table cloth from there. It is white and has yellow tulips all over it. So cute, and matches my kitchen perfectly.

And that’s my short, but sweet, list of my August favorites! A month filled with delicious food! It looks like cooking and baking was a favorite this month as well, ha! Quite a bit late, but it’s up all the same! ❤

Thank you so much for reading!

Ten of My Favorite Apps!

Hello, my dearest friends! Today I wanted to share with you some of the most used apps on my phone. One day, I would love to be living my life in a simple cabin, owning no cell phone, and instead having a home phone. Oh, to dream… However, as of right now, I find my cell phone to be VERY helpful, and dare I say, necessary. I don’t think cell phones are inherently evil, no, not at all. I think it’s all about how we choose to use them. If we think of them as a tool, we’re more likely to use them in a way that will serve us best. If we try to use them with PURPOSE instead of HABIT, we’ll find ourselves with a lot of extra time in the day.

I wanted to add a quick little note saying that I am NOT sponsored by any of these apps. I just find them to be genuinely helpful!

  1. Afterlight. This app is amazing for editing photos. It’s what I use for all of my photos, actually! It’s completely free and enables you to create photos that are very professional looking. I generally take photos on my camera, but this app allows even Iphone photos to look crisp and Insta-worthy!
  2. #Bible. This app is so wonderful because it gives you a new bible verse every single day. It also gives you the option to choose what time of day you’d like to be notified for your verse of the day. I always forget about this app until I get a notification on my screen, and it brightens my day, every single time! Not to mention it’s a great way to begin to know the bible a little bit better!
  3. Letterboxd. In this app, you’re able to keep a log of all the movies that you’ve watched each month. I really like it because you’re able to see what movies are popular at the moment, and you’re able to create a list of all the movies that you’re wanting to watch! I love perusing other people’s lists and seeing what I should add to mine!
  4. Ibotta. This app allows you to earn cash back on purchases you make. I like to use it for grocery shopping, as that’s something I do anyway, and if one of my items qualifies, I get cash back! Yay! You can also use it for online purchases, but I don’t make too many of those, so I cannot give a review on that area of the app, but I would definitely check Ibotta out! Who doesn’t want cash back???
  5. Fetch Rewards. This app is very similar to Ibotta, they just have deals on different items. I love that I can use the same receipt for BOTH of these places to get rewards. The main difference I’ve found between Ibotta and Fetch is that Fetch gives you money back in the form of a gift card. I haven’t chosen to cash in my points yet, but I am looking forward to receiving my gift card!
  6. Depop. I love secondhand shopping, and this app is perfect because you can buy AND sell. If you want to follow my account… it’s @retroandcatsandstuff! I think this app is so fabulous, especially since it’s currently second-hand September! Yay! The perfect time to snag some second-hand goodies!!!
  7. Swagbucks. This app certainly sounds like it would be a scam, but I can tell you that it is NOT. Essentially, it’s an app where you take surveys, and get points, called Swagbucks, and you’re able to redeem them for a giftcard. I’ve used it to get giftcards for Sephora and Walmart. There are, of course, many other places you could choose. It’s certainly not a get-rich-quick scheme, but I think it’s worth it! I like to do them whenever I have a spare moment!
  8. Venmo. Long gone are the days where you need cash to pay a friend back. I’m sure that most people know about Venmo, but I was definitely late to the Venmo game! It’s great to use when grabbing food with your friends, you can reimburse them without having to go to an ATM!
  9. Banking app. I think that everyone should have a banking app on their phone. I like to keep a very close eye on my account, and a banking app allows me to do that with ease. You never know when you might need it, so definitely save some space on your phone for your bank’s app!
  10. Cozi. This app is AMAZING for families, couples, or even roommates. Bobby and I have been using this since last winter. Essentially, it’s a calendar app. You’re able to put in your work schedule, different events, and you’re able to color code it by whose event it is. You’re even able to color code it if it’s an event for multiple people! This app also allows you to create lists that everyone in your group can see, I love using it for grocery lists, because we’re both able to add the items we need onto it!

And that’s all, my friends! A list of my favorite apps! I hope that it was helpful, and that you were able to find one or two that serve you!

Thank you so much for reading!

Be a Tourist in Your Own Town.

Hello, my friends! A happy Monday to you all! I know that I’ve said this quite a bit in my last few posts, but hellllooooo fall! The weather is just about perfect, as of late. Especially for taking beautiful afternoon walks, which is what Bobby and I chose to do, yesterday!

Some days, you just need to get out of the house. Sunday was one of those days for Bobby and me. We live in such a beautiful town, but we don’t always see it with appreciative eyes. Even having lived here for only two months, I’ve already begun to grow accustomed to this place I used to find so new and exciting. Which isn’t a bad thing per say, I’ve begun to feel more at home here, but I think there also is something to say about treating where you live as a vacation destination. I mentioned this to Bobby, and he said, “Traverse City IS a vacation destination!” Which is totally true, but I like to think that we can treat wherever we live as though it was a place where we chose to vacation.

We went on a walk in the woods and had such a splendid time. It was wonderful to be out of the house and enjoy the beauty that our town had to offer. Being surrounded by trees, breathing in the September air, and seeing many a cute dog…I don’t know that it could’ve been any better.

The leaves are beginning to change color, and they’ve started collecting on the ground and I can envision chai tea lattes, trips to the pumpkin patch, and Halloween.

It’s a beautiful town that I live in, and I want to start appreciating it more. This can apply to everyone and everywhere, we just have to become more mindful of such things. What makes where you live unique? How can you begin to see it in a new light? Begin exploring your town and see what it has to offer! ❤

Thank you so much for reading, friends! I hope that you enjoyed this little post!

Making Pumpkin Spice Coffee at Home!

Hello, friends! A happy Friday to you all! I hope that your weekend is off to a wonderful start! Today I wanted to share with you the coffee that I’ve been having every day to get into the fall spirit! (As if I needed any help getting there!)

Oh my gosh, this has been my go-to drink for a couple of weeks now. Whilst at TJ Maxx, I stumbled upon a trio of pumpkin syrups for coffee. The flavors included are pumpkin spice, pumpkin cheesecake, and pumpkin caramel.

Now… here’s the thing. I went on Amazon to see if I could find them to link here, and boy did I… and I’ll tell you what, I hadn’t realized this this coffee was giving people such problems… bathroom problems to be exact. I won’t go into detail, and I will note that I have not experienced these problems, but I just wanted to give a warning so that I’m not steering you straight to a tummy ache.

I bought these not because they were “skinny syrups”, but because the flavors interested me. I don’t particularly like the idea of products being marketed this way, and I should have considered that more before buying them. I think if I finish all three and am still in the mood for some pumpkin spice beverages, I’ll probably try out another brand. Does anyone have any suggestions?

HOWEVER, I will say that this drink is delicious. I don’t know how well I’ve sold it, though… Anywho!

Here we go!

1. I make one cup of coffee with my Keurig. I always use the ten ounce option.

2. Then, I add a cup of sweetened vanilla almond milk. I suppose there are many other things you could add in place of that, but I just really enjoy it! After I do this, I pour the coffee into another container, because I heard that every time you pour a hot liquid into another container it gets cooler. I hope that that is actually true and I don’t just sound gullible…

3. After I’ve done that, I add about a teaspoon of the pumpkin spice caramel syrup. I’ve yet to try the other two syrups, but I quite enjoy this one!

4. Then, I add some ice cubes to the cup, and to top it all off…

5. I take a teaspoon or so of pumpkin pie spice and swirl it all around!

6. I don’t do this because I never have it in the house, but if you wanted to get REAL fancy, you could add a dollop of whipped cream on top. I’m sure that would be DELICIOUS.

And oh my goodness, is this drink wonderful. I absolutely love all things pumpkin, and this coffee is no exception. Speaking of pumpkin, I just had my first pumpkin shake from Culver’s of the season, and if you haven’t tried that yet… run to your nearest Culver’s and get one! They are SO tasty!

And that’s all, my friends! I hope that you enjoyed this little recipe and the inadvertent product review I gave alongside it (ha!)

Thank you so much for reading!

Five Things I’ve Learned from One Year of Blogging.

Hello, friends! Happy Wednesday! And guess what??? I have officially been blogging for ONE WHOLE YEAR!!! That is so crazy! I remember starting it and really having no idea what to write about, or even the direction I wanted to take it. And to some extent, I guess it’s the same now, but I’m having so much fun using blogging as a creative outlet. So, I thought I’d compile a list of what I’ve learned thus far!

Enjoy!

Quick note: some of these may not be universally agreed upon, and that’s OKAY. At the end of the day, we must do what makes us feel creatively satisfied. This is just what I’ve found to be true! 🙂

  1. Blog about what YOU want. It’s SO easy to be swayed one way or the other by what you THINK people want to read about. And believe me, I had that problem for awhile. I was so caught up in what I thought would be popular, but then I realized that my posts were just better when I was writing about something that I was genuinely passionate about. It’s okay to write about topics that are trending, but if you decide to, make sure that you have an interest in it! There’s nothing wrong with liking things that are popular, but make sure you’re being genuine in you interests, and how they are featured on your blog! ❤
  2. Quality over quantity. I know there’s a big push for CONTENT, CONTENT, CONTENT!!! However, I don’t quite agree with going about creating this way. I think that we can and SHOULD write every single day, but I don’t think that means that we have to post every single day. I think it’s best to post a couple really great blogs a week, instead of mediocre blogs every single day. And if you’re proud of the posts that you’re making, and you’re able to post every day, then do it! Just don’t feel as though you HAVE to do this to be successful or creatively fulfilled. I enjoy writing for my blog, but I also enjoy journaling. I think that journaling helps us sift through ideas and feelings that we have, and allows us to decide what will work for a blog post, and what will be better as a journal entry.
  3. Set a sustainable schedule. I think that once I set up a schedule that worked for me, it really helped me to create better blog posts. This may sound quite vague, but it’s important to find a schedule that doesn’t overwork you, but it does challenge you just a bit. It’s good to stretch those creative muscles, but not at the sake of wearing yourself thin. It may take a little while to figure out a schedule that is compatible with your life, which is totally okay. You may also need to switch it up as your life changes, and that is also okay. Just remember, as always, you must be honest with yourself about what works for YOU!
  4. Don’t become too obsessed with other people’s blogs. It’s great to find inspiration from others, but make sure that you’re not getting too caught up in comparing yourself to them. And this is SO hard. I definitely struggle with this quite a bit, and I know I’m not alone with this. However, the people who follow you follow you because they enjoy YOUR point of view, they followed you because they find you and your content unique! In a world where putting yourself out there is so easy, you have to find out what makes you unique and what sets you apart from everyone else out there. Looking to others for ideas is okay, but make sure that you are not obsessing over what they are creating. Allow yourself to have your own creative process.
  5. Don’t spam/self-promote! I know that this may be tempting to do, especially at the beginning of your blogging journey. And I’m sure you know what I’m talking about, following people only to unfollow them soon after, commenting stuff about YOUR blog on THEIR post, and private messaging someone repeatedly to buy a product. I think that a big part of blogging is creating mutual followings with people whose content you genuinely enjoy. Follow people that you would follow even if you weren’t blogging, and if you like their content, reach out to them! Tell them that you enjoy what they post! If they enjoy your content, they’ll follow you back! And even if they don’t follow you back, you can still enjoy their content just for the sake of enjoying what they post! I don’t think that everything has to be transactional. I really don’t like that way of thinking at all. And like I said earlier, everyone has a different creative process and way of going about things. Which is totally fine. I just have found that I personally don’t enjoy participating in that.

Thank you so much for reading this blog post, my dear internet friend. I’m so thankful for all of the people that I’ve found throughout my year of blogging, and I feel so blessed being able to share my life with all of you.

XOXO,

Mattie Mae

Labor Day in Leland, Michigan.

Hello, friends! Happy Labor day to you all! And happy September, too! Eek! In my opinion, it is officially fall and I’m going to begin decorating my home as such! As I write this, I’m drinking a delicious little coffee that will be featured in my August favorites… Stay tuned!

Today, Bobby and I decided to take a little trip to Leland, as we both had the day off. And my oh my, was it a wonderful day! ❤ Y’all know my love for cute little towns! And lucky for me, Michigan has plenty of them!

How stinking cute??? I was so tempted by these water bottles and mugs, but I stayed strong and didn’t buy any!
My cutie-pie!!! How sweet was he to suggest taking a day trip??? ❤
We didn’t go inside this grocery store, but I had to get a picture of their window. Even if I was taking said photo in a moving car. Sooo, perhaps it’s not the BEST photo I’ve ever taken, but I still think it’s adorable all the same.
Maybe I need to look at a thesaurus to find adjectives other than “cute” and “adorable, BUT… this post office was quite adorable. It was also very cute.
How beautiful is this view??? And not a touch of a filter on it! Bobby and I took a walk along the water and it was AMAZING. There was a slight breeze in the air and the sunshine was smiling down at us.

My friends! What a wonderful day today was! We also went to a little restaurant & tavern called Bluebird. I’ve been there once before, and their food is so scrumptious! They give you complimentary french bread AND cinnamon roll bread. That cinnamon roll bread is causing me to salivate whilst writing this… SO good.

And oh my gosh, we had the CUTEST encounter with a husband and wife, named Bob and Gloria. If you’re reading this Bob and Gloria… hello!!! it was wonderful meeting both of you!

As Bobby and I were entering the restaurant, so were Bob and Gloria. They asked us if we could take their photo in front of the Bluebird sign. They had the loveliest camera, and they asked us if we wanted our photo taken as well. We said yes, and they took our photo, but when we got to taking their photo… their camera was dead!

So, Bobby and I said that we could meet them after we both had finished our dinner to take photos, and they could charge up their camera while they were eating. After we payed our bill, we got up to peek around the corner to see if they were still at their table — they weren’t. We figured they must have finished before us and maybe they had left already.

BUT…

They hadn’t! They were still in the lobby, so we were able to catch up with them. I believe Bob took more photos of us, as Gloria reapplied her lip liner in the car. I had set down my purse and my shopping bag, and she scooped them up and put them on the hood of their car so they wouldn’t get dirty. (How sweet!) As Gloria is doing this, Bobby and Bob (hehe!) were talking about their cameras, and Bob told Bobby that him and Gloria were portrait photographers for over thirty years!!!

As Bobby began to take their photos, another kind man came out of the restaurant and said, “I’ll take all four of your photos!!!”. We all giggled a bit, because I think he thought we were all related, but we all got in a line and got our photo taken all the same! It was so stinkin’ sweet and the whole time I kept thinking about how this was one of the cutest moments of my whole life.

Afterwards, us four talked in the parking lot for awhile, we told them that we’re getting married in a month (a month!!!) and they told us how they recently celebrated their fiftieth (fiftieth!!!) wedding anniversary. They told us that the years just fly by.

And I can’t wait, Bob and Gloria. I can’t wait… ❤

Thank you so much for reading!

P.S What do we think of my new way of editing the featured image on the blog post???

This to That: Bronzer & Contouring Products.

Hello, friends! Happy Friday to you all! Today’s blog post is the one that I promised in my last post… All about my journey to create a makeup collection that serves me, and the Earth, as best as it can.

I don’t utilize bronzer too much, I tend to instead apply blush with a very heavy hand. However, I do own a couple of such products. And I do enjoy adding bronzer to my routine if I am doing a more dramatic look. Bronzer is something that is certainly not one-size-fits-all, so finding the perfect one is all the more difficult AND important. And I am on the hunt!

Physician’s Formula Shimmer Strips: Vegas Strip/Light Bronzer. $13.49.

  • I’ve had this bronzer for longer than I’d care to admit. Middle school, maybe? I know that it’s bad to keep makeup longer than the recommended date, but I just can’t seem to get rid of items until they’ve been completely used up.
  • Physician’s Formula is a cruelty-free brand.
  • This product is NOT vegan, as it contains carmine. (Carmine, I looked up, is made up of beetles.)
  • The yellow/orange highlighter/bronzer combo is not flattering on my skin type whatsoever.
  • I’m trying to phase out all makeup products that aren’t cruelty-free and vegan.
  • I’m also wanting to move onto makeup products that are more clean and less wasteful.

Final Thoughts: I will not be buying this product again.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Cream Kit: Medium. $40.00.

  • I’ve had this palette for around two years, I believe. I bought it at TJ Maxx, so I definitely didn’t spend that much on it.
  • Medium isn’t my shade, and I don’t know why I bought it. I think I was caught up in the glamour of brand-name makeup.
  • I don’t think I like cream contour. It doesn’t blend out how I’d like it to.
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills is a cruelty-free brand.
  • This product IS vegan.
  • I’m sure that this product could be wonderful for people who do more intensive highlighting and contouring than I do, but for me, it’s just not something I find myself reaching for.
  • I will say that I’ve been mixing some of the shades and using them to fill in my eyebrows, which works really nicely!
  • I may not like cream bronzer/contour, but I really love cream blush, so I will say that I enjoy the blush that’s provided in this kit.

Final Thoughts: I will not be buying this product again.

Pur Epic Illusion Cheek & Contour Palette. $28.00

  • I’ve had this palette for a couple of years as well. I’m pretty sure it was a Christmas gift.
  • It features two highlighters, two contour shades, and two blushes.
  • I actually really like this palette. It has many uses, as I utilize the highlighter and the contouring shades as eyeshadow to create some really lovely natural eye looks.
  • Pur is a cruelty-free brand.
  • This product is NOT vegan. It contains magnesium stearate which is derived from pork. It also contains ethylhexylglycerin and tocopheryl acetate which can be sourced from plant OR animal sources, and I don’t believe that Pur states anywhere whether it’s one or the other.

Final Thoughts: I will not be buying this product again.

What do I plan on replacing these items with?

I’ve been doing some research on brands that are vegan, cruelty-free, and low-waste. I don’t plan on purchasing any of these products until I’m completely out of the ones that I already own. I also don’t plan on buying all of these at once, because that seems counterproductive, but when I do end up buying one, I plan on making a blog post about which I choose! ❤

  • Elate Cosmetics: this is a brand that I’ve been wanting to try for awhile now. On their site, they say that they are cruelty-free, vegan, toxin free, gluten free, and sustainably made! I also really enjoy that you are able to buy refills for your containers once you have bought them! This is the shade that I plan to buy… They have so many other things that I want to try, so I’m sure that this will not be the last time they’re mentioned here.
  • EK Bare Beauty: this is a brand that I stumbled upon when looking for cruelty-free bronzers. Their bio on Etsy says that they are“low-waste, inclusive clean beauty.” Again, there are so many other wonderful products in their shop that I want to try when I’m in the market for some other products. They are also vegan, cruelty-free, low-waste, and all sorts of good stuff. This is the one that I’m wanting to try! It says that it’s a blush, but I think on my skin tone it’ll work great as a bronzer!

And that’s that, my dear friends! I will keep you all updated on this journey.

Thank you so much for reading!

Minimizing my Makeup Collection.

Hello, my dear friends! I’m writing this post for you on another day that is just on the cusp of fall. And once again, it has me feeling very cozy and content.

I wanted to write a blog post today about minimizing my makeup collection. My makeup collection is decent sized, I would say. I think some people could view it as me having way too much stuff, and some people could see it and think it’s nothing! It’s just somewhere in-between, I think. I wanted to start another segment on my blog about my journey with not only condensing my makeup, but also what I plan on replacing the items with once they’re used up.

The categories I’m going to feature are:

  • Blush
  • Bronzer/Contouring Products
  • Mascara
  • Eyeliner
  • Eyeshadow Singles / Eyeshadow Palettes
  • Foundation
  • Concealer
  • Lipstick
  • Lipgloss
  • Eyebrow powder/pomade/pencils
  • Highlighter

Makeup is so fun to experiment with, and I don’t think that I’ll ever not love it, but, I want to be more mindful in my purchasing of makeup. I want to still have fun products that I can play with, but I don’t want to have makeup that I don’t like or don’t use. I want to find the best of the best for each category of makeup, and I thought I’d take all of y’all along for the journey!

I’m one of those people that can’t seem to get rid of makeup no matter how old it is, or how unflattering it is on me. I hate getting rid of makeup when it can still be used! So, my goal for this is to use up all of the makeup products I do not care for, and replace them with items that are better for me, and better for the Earth!

I’m thinking as I do each makeup type, I’ll link them so that you can go read all of them through this blog post!

I’m really excited for this process, and I’ve been doing some research on different products and companies, and I’m so excited to share everything I’ve learned with all of you! This post is kind of the equivalent to a movie trailer, I suppose. A little teaser! I’m hoping to start our first segment of it on Friday, so look out for that!

Thank you so much for reading, my friends!

Giving Bullet Journaling a Second Try.

Hello, my dear internet friends! Happy Monday to you all! Today feels like a fall day, and I am over the moon about it. It’s a little gloomy, a small chill in the air… I love it! I’m sitting on my balcony right now writing this post, just soaking it all in.

Today’s blog post is definitely different than our usual posts, but I love trying new things on this blog of mine. I fell down a bullet journaling rabbit hole on youtube, and it made me want to give it a go. It’s not my first time trying bullet journaling, here is one that I did a couple years ago…

Bullet journal: August 2017.

Now, I don’t think the one I did in 2017 is too bad. HOWEVER, as someone who struggles heavily with perfectionism, I kind of gave up on bullet journaling… And I decided today to give it another go. And let me tell you, I struggled the entire time of wanting, DESPERATELY, to give up on it. I think that Pinterest and Youtube are great places for us to find inspiration, but gosh, I find it so difficult to not compare my creations to what I see online. And if I continue to be super honest with all of you, I spent about four hours straight working on this bullet journal entry. Just overthinking it completely. I think it’s important to put thought into whatever we create, but it’s not helpful to our creative process to completely overthink everything. Don’t let YOU get in the way of YOU.

All that being said, and all things considered, I’m pretty happy with how this entry ended up. It’s a fun way to be creative, and afterwards you have a homemade calendar, completely tailored to your own taste!

I’m not an expert on bullet journaling, but I felt like drawing, and I had the fall itch! I don’t think that we have to be experts in something to enjoy doing it, because more often than not, we’re not going to be great at something right away. Let yourself be confident in not only the creative process, but also YOURSELF.

Bullet journal: September 2019.

If nothing else, I think my eye for photography has gotten better! And now my dear friends, I think I’m going to cuddle up with a cozy blanket, a cup of coffee, and peruse Netflix for a nice fall movie.

Thank you so much for reading!

XOXO,

Mattie Mae
