A New Tattoo

Hello, friends! For my Twenty-eighth birthday back in November, I got my first tattoo since my TWENTIETH birthday! It’s been months and I’m still so in love with it. With the weather getting warmer, I’m excited to be able to wear shirts and dresses that show it off more!

A little insight about the tattoo: I have been loving the 1990’s celestial trend so much for awhile now. There’s something so charming about the sun and moon having a unique face and there’s something so cozy and nostalgic about it. I also love how it calls back to the art nouveau movement.

And the quote is from Sylvia Plath’s poem, Mad Girl’s Love Song. I’ve always loved this poem and when I was puzzling over what exactly I wanted my tattoo to be, the quote popped into my head and I thought it would be the perfect addition to the piece.

I sent my idea to my tattoo artist (who has done all five off my tattoos!) and he had the perfect mock up ready when I arrived to my appointment. I had been apprehensive — what if my vision wasn’t able to come to life? My apprehension was for naught — he captured my idea PERFECTLY!!!

It’s hard to believe I’ve had this tattoo for almost half a year already! I’ve been workshopping some ideas for another one. I’ve also been pondering getting my second lobes and my helix done. I’m slightly apprehensive about the helix, because I’ve heard many a tale of people saying that it takes years to heal and I’ve heard some people say that theirs never healed. YIKES!!! Let me know!!!

XOXO,

Mattie Mae
